Life Pharmacy Queensgate Classic Lady of the Carnival

The Lady of the Carnival featuring women’s classic race wear is the jewel of the Fashion in the Field crown, typically recording the highest number of category entries.  A more traditional sense of fashion is expected for entrants of this highly contested category. 

Westfield Queensgate Contemporary Lady of the Carnival 

This category continues to seek encouragement of the raceday attire we are fast becoming familiar with being a more cocktail style of dress, accompanied typically by fascinators.  

Rembrandt Man of the Carnival 

The menswear category has taken off over recent years with unprecedented entrant numbers.  It is now commonplace for men to complete their outfits with accessories such as hats, gloves and canes. 

 Pacific Jewellers Mature Lady of the Carnival 

The third outing of this category inviting the mature woman an opportunity to showcase their attire with like aged contestants.  Seeks woman over 50 as entry criteria.

Colour of the Carnival 

An exciting addition to the stable of categories which will see a public opinion poll each year to select the Colour of the Carnival.  This year is red.  Showcase your best red ensemble from top to toe.  Creativity rules – but must be appropriate to wear for a day at the races!

Embrace this one as the way of the future.  A brave new category for your most thoughtful sustainable fashions.  Clothing and accessories must be made from ethically produced and environmentally friendly fibres (like cotton), recycled fabrics and materials, be locally designed and made, use fabrics printed or coloured with lox-toxicity dyes, or reuse garments by buying second hand, or swapping perhaps cutting up and customising an old garment to make a new one (full criteria available www.trentham.co.nz)

Entrants must fulfil the following criteria and acknowledge that they understand and agree to abide by the criteria as they register in order to be granted entry into Fashion in the Field.  

1. Entrants must be 18 years of age or more.  

2. Entrants and / or their outfits are not permitted to have any commercial agenda in entering the competition.  

3. Entrants must not receive any compensation from a third party for entering this competition.  

4. The Supreme Winner will be available for entrance to the National final held at Ellerslie Racecourse on in March.  

5. Entrants will be permitted to enter one category only.  

6. All entrants will be contact for a detailed summary of their outfit on parade 

7. Winner of a category in 2011 may not enter that same category in 2012

8. Entrants must fill out an entry form prior to the start of the competition to be a valid entry on the day. No late entries will be accepted.

9. Judges decision is final
